Murray's Cheese

During the NYC trip we had to stop by Murray's cheese where we had an appointment to tour the cheese caves and try a cheese tasting, it was a very interesting and educational experience for me, the cheese is taken very seriously and carefully stored in caves that are set at a different temperature and humidity depending on the type of cheese. They really care about cheese and have an amazing variety. I went into about 5 different caves, the bleu cheeses was my absolute favorite, the smell was amazing! The cheese tasting was the best, I think I could seriously live on wine, cheese and bread! We tryed so many great cheeses which I can't remember the names (sorry!), but I highly recommend visiting Bleecker street and stop by Murray's (Anthony Bourdain did as seen on his Cook's Tour tv show).

It's CHEESE!!!

This is me in the bleu cheese cave! We had to cover our hair and wear special booties over our shoes.

Kaas Glassworks

Kaas Glassworks, located in the west village of NYC is a treasure of a shop, this place is packed with beautiful handmade plates, bowls and other glass supplies that are painted with amazing images, very well done and fascinating to see the selection. Kaas has a great website for ordering and offer almost as good a selection online as they have in the shop. Great for gifts and decorating the kitchen.

It's all about the one-shoulder

The one shoulder dress continues to be a big trend for spring '09, it's a refreshing way to have a bit of asymmetry incorporated into the look whether it's draped, color-blocked or sheared.
Rodarte's artfully draped ombre gown:
Versace's zipper-folded-pleated and draped looks (also one of my favorite collections for spring):

Alexander McQueen's ombre string dress who's collection was inspired by Darwin:
Lanvin's color-blocked airy, poufy dresses:

J.Mendel's prestigious collection of beautifully draped chiffon dresses paired with lux fur coats and shrugs:

Central Park Part 2

Back to my NYC trip, I ventured further into Central Park going north this time past 78th street, I came across this fabulous tree as I walked into the park.
This is The Lake, a very peaceful walk, I loved seeing the people rowing their boats around the lake....Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite children's stories so of course I had to visit the statues
This is Angel of the Waters, a very cool statue, I would love to use this as a photo shoot location for future collections....
So many dramatic statues throughout the park...

Belvedere Castle, (Rapunzel let down your hair!)
Shakespeare's Garden was so peaceful and very inspirational, it really was a fairytale...

Viktor & Rolf

I'm always fascinated by what Viktor & Rolf come up with each season, they are definitely one of the most visionary designers, I always remember the coat with the rows and rows of collars they did years ago, or the lights and speakers rigged on the models shoulders for Fall 07. This season they did something new; a virtual one model show starring Shalom Harlow, this is a 7 minute video seen on their website, inspired by Audrey Hepburn in "Funny Face". There are at least 3 Shaloms on the runway at the same time. Love it!

Each beaded dress took them over 4 weeks to create:

Central Park: Part 1

I'm feeling very homesick for New York, I miss the walks through central park every morning before going out on my adventure. I miss staying up till 3 or 4 in the morning as midnight seems way to early to retire. I miss all the rush and excitement and something else I just can't put my finger on....This is my journal continued. We stayed in the upper west side, near the park so I got the opportunity to explore a lot of it....

The great lawn, need I say more....
I just love how the city surrounds this beautiful big piece of nature, it's nice to be reminded you're still in the big apple.I came across this unexpectedly, this is in Strawberry Fields, a memorial to John Lennon, simply stated Imagine.
I love these hot dog stands, they're all over the park, life savers when you've been out hiking longer than you'd planned...
So romantic, horse and buggy's everywhere!
This bench is near the central park zoo, I love this quote by Gertrude Stein. So many statues in the park, really all over Manhattan.
