Photo Phriday

Maybe it's my anticipation of the upcoming Tim Burton's, Alice in Wonderland (set to release 2010!!!) My all time favorite children's story (such a classic). Johnny Depp to play the Mad Hatter?? Sorry, back to my point.
Below are images from Elle Moss's Photography which has a very surreal, nostalgic quality but also a few cheerful, dark themes as well. Check out Elle's blog to get the interesting story behind the head...

Friday Artist

Meladori Magpie is the featured artist today. I thought the print below titled "Birthday" is kind of appropriate as it has fireworks on the birthday cake! I lean towards more bright cheerful artist, but I like the dark humor in Magpie's work and I also like bunny's even if they are zombie's. My hubby really likes these and since it's his birthday weekend here you go...
Have a wonderful and safe 4th of July!!

Friday Artist

Photographer Alicia Bock's work is like a moment in time, her images capture a vintage spirit, I love the "viewfinder" series with the black borders and the soft focus. These pictures bring character and beauty to sometimes the simplest nature scenes. You can find her work on etsy as well.

Happy Friday the 13th! Dollface Design is an artist who does multi media, collage work. I really like the vintage, whimsical humor that her art evokes. Dollface also has a blog that is definitely worth checking out.

Chillin Productions

I love participating in the Chillin Productions show for independent designers and artist, this time around it was held at the fabulous 111 Minna gallery. I was so impressed with the quality of work and creativity of the jewelry and accessories designers, my favorites pictured below.

Friday Artist

Lucia Johnson is an artist based out of Portland Oregon, you can buy prints from her original window paintings on her etsy shop. I love how bold yet soft (almost like watercolor but with more control) her paintings are. My favorite groups are the modern style (images of cute vintage-y shoes) and the Floating Machines (below). I love hot air balloons, what a novelty, I think that is definitely something I want to experience someday.

I also like this cat and cherry blossom painting

Screen Printing 101

I've been learning how to screen print at Root Division, which has opened up so many creative possibilities for my clothing line (more on that later). I highly recommend anyone who wants to learn printing, to go to Root Division's summer 6 week course starting June 19th. Instructor Adam Friedman is awesome, he is extremely knowledgeable in this art form and is very patient and informative in teaching others. Here are some pics of various students work from the class:

Here's an experimental top I'm working on...
