Mad Men

It's a mad, mad world....
Season 2 of Mad Men premiered last night, which I'm super excited about! Not only is the story interesting, but I love the retro fashion! The office suit dresses are so fun and make me want to go back in time when society dressed up more. Here are a few modern looks from the runway, reminiscent of the New York way of life on Madison Avenue in the 60's.

Micheal Kors, Fall 08
Diane Von Furstenberg, Resort 09

Donna Karan, Resort 09
Tuleh, Resort 09
This is a look from my previous collection, one of my favorites!

BBQ

Great weather in San Francisco today, what a change from the last month. I always think back to what Mark Twain supposedly said about SF, "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco."
Anyway, go and enjoy, have some BBQ at Ducca while you're at it!

Top Tips

I recently discovered this great website Top Tips For Girls. It's chalk full of advice on such a wide range of topics that are geared towards women's interests. Advice ranges from How To Be Happy to How to avoid four "butt-cheeks" (hee-he). I'm intrigued by this site and would love to explore it with all the time I don't have. Anyone can leave tips, Donatella Versace did, her advice, How to look good: 'I don't really understand the purpose of flat shoes. My top tip for any girl would have to be: Never be seen out of the house in anything other than heels.'
(I have to say I quite disagree)

My favorite quote:
How to age happily: Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in hand, totally worn out and screaming "Woo-hoo, what a ride!"

Still Life

Still Life Clothing, located on Divisadero St. in the Nopa neighborhood of San Francisco is a must visit for great vintage finds and local designer wares. Kelly (pictured below) is super awesome at promoting emerging designers in the indie mart shows, and monthly designer series held at Still Life. Currently Please Dress Up is the featured designer for July. Kelly uses her creative talent to decorate the boutique to go along with the designer theme, right now it's a Paris theme with Eiffel towers, cute illustrations from the designers and baguettes hanging from the ceiling!! Next month yours truly (me!) will be the designer in focus, I can't wait to see what Kelly comes up with for the store! The opening party will be held on August 9th in the evening, I highly recommend all local gals who love dresses and coats to join us in the festivities, more info to come....

Look of the Day

Recently I've become obsessed with voting on Style.com's 'Look of the Day', yes I know I'm a complete fashion nerd, but as a designer I like to know what's hot in the ever changing fashion world. I'm the same way with Project Runway, don't try to call me Wednesday night, I won't answer unless it's during a commercial break and even then I'm online voting for my dream team. There I said it.

Today's 'Look of the Day' from Temperly London's resort collection

Issac Mizrahi

Chanel
Givenchy
Dior
OK, JG should be the 'Designer of the Day' just look at that spectacular poise during the Dior couture show!

Wedding Dress

Here is a recent wedding dress I designed for K, this was for a beach wedding in June. I started out with the sketch below, made a few changes and then created the actual dress which had a bubble skirt with criss cross gathering at bust and then the one shoulder twist strap.

K during her final fitting. She looks so modern and chic!

Cavallo Point

Over the weekend B and I went to check out Cavallo Point right off the Golden Gate Bridge, it was a beautiful sunny day with the fog rolling in over the San Francisco bay. We had an amazing brunch at Murray Circle (the quiche is excellent) and got to check out the kitchen and meet with Chef Joseph Humphrey.

Happy Monday

This weekend was a blast, not only was it a holiday weekend but we celebrated a couple birthday's and had lots of fun!

Friday Artist

Meladori Magpie is the featured artist today. I thought the print below titled "Birthday" is kind of appropriate as it has fireworks on the birthday cake! I lean towards more bright cheerful artist, but I like the dark humor in Magpie's work and I also like bunny's even if they are zombie's. My hubby really likes these and since it's his birthday weekend here you go...
Have a wonderful and safe 4th of July!!

blogger, blog

Today Lorraine from SF Indie Fashion featured one of my designs (cotton lace shift dress below) in her blog. I'm super exited about this as Lorraine's blog site was my very first daily blog read, after that I got hooked to reading blogs and now have a handful or two that I read on a daily bases.

Signs

I love vintage store signs like the one below. Here are just a few signs I've noticed around the city that are either interesting or inspirational.
